“E’ thanks to my family if I became Gianluca Zambrotta”
"They always left me quiet and free to make my choices".
Gianluca Zambrotta, world champion 2006, Former Juventus pillar and Milan, It tells exclusively for the school of sports parents His relationship with Dad Alberto and mom Luisella, linked to his sports path. From the pitch under the house to the roof of the world. From goals in the oratory to the slaughter to the football scale.
When, how and why you started chasing a ball?
I started in the US Alebbio, a Rebbio, in the Como. I went there to do catechism, in the oratory, and a 9 years I signed up for football with my friends. E’ was my request. The field was one kilometer from home. I had fun for three years.
Who followed you in those early years?
Especially dad. Sometimes my mom too. Sometimes my grandfather too, who had made the goalkeeper. The first games, The first tournaments: all very quiet.
Then, An important train arrives….
An observer of Como is looking for me. Mine tell me this novelty. At the beginning I didn't want to go there. I had the field near the house, My friends, I didn't want anything else. To train at Como you had to do 20-25 minutes of road.
What makes you change your mind?
I had 11-12 years. Mine helped me understand that it was an important opportunity. Como was famous for its youth sector, There was the late Mino Favini. They asked me if I wanted to improve and grow. They helped me understand what the best way could be, without imposing it. They gave me the advice that then turned out to be the right.
The great team arrives, the qualitative leap: change something in their attitude?
In essence no. Changes that with Como we also play outside the region, There are important trips. My father always accompanies me, Together with a friend of his. But the attitude is always positive and serene. He kept us, right, After the games sometimes he told me what according to him could be done better, but without ever exaggerating, even when he praised me.
We can say that your parents played an important role in your boyfriend's sporting life?
Absolutely yes. I believe the family is the most important piece, Then the coach, Then of course the school, which should not be underestimated. I went quite well, without excel: My parents never punished me, removing football, How do some parents do. It is the most stupid punishment there is.
